On March 28-29, 2025, representatives of the Klima-Therm management team took part in the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the production of Midea chillers in Chongqing, central China. The highlight of the event was the opening of the world's first intelligent lighthouse production line, based on advanced digital technologies and processes supported by artificial intelligence.
The Klima-Therm delegation took part in the event at the invitation of the host of the ceremony - Midea, a leading Chinese manufacturer of HVAC equipment. More than 300 business partners and customers of Midea from all over the world took part in the anniversary celebrations, which were combined with the inauguration of the new factory.
The newly opened chiller factory received the prestigious lighthouse classification - awarded to industrial plants recognized as the most technologically advanced in the world. Factories of this type are a model example of the implementation of Industry 4.0, making full use of digital technologies, artificial intelligence and environmentally friendly solutions. There are currently 189 factories worldwide that meet the criteria of the lighthouse format, which are setting the direction for the future of global production and decarbonization of industry.
The Chongqing factory is the world's first plant of its kind dedicated to the production of chillers. The equipment manufactured there includes centrifugal compressor chillers, including modern models equipped with magnetic bearings - MagBoost Magnetic Bearing Centrifugal Chiller.
“During our stay in China, we visited three Midea production plants specializing in the manufacture of chillers, heat pumps, and air conditioners. It was an extremely valuable experience that allowed us to take a close look at the dynamics of technological development and the production capabilities of the Chinese HVAC industry,” comments Michał Zalewski, Technical Director at Klima-Therm.
The key feature of the new chiller factory in Chongqing is the comprehensive application of artificial intelligence – from the research and development stage, through production processes, to after-sales service. The plant, which has been in operation since 2004, specializes in the production of large-scale central air-conditioning systems, which are used in airports, high-speed railway stations, industrial and commercial facilities, and data centers, among others.
